Health Promoters

Every month the practice will be leading on various health promotion campaigns where we will have patient information available for you, health promotion displays in the surgery and we will be encouraging patients to engage with us in helping you to help yourself.

Telephoning the Practice

We are asking all patients who are ringing for results of investigations, queries with prescriptions, general queries to telephone the practice between 11am - 4.00pm - this means the telephones will be available for those patients who need to see a doctor or nurse that day and also for patients ringing in requesting a visit.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Advanced Nurse Practitioners

This practice employs ANP's (Advanced Nurse Practitioners) who are highly qualified individuals who work in a similar way to the GP's, seeing, assessing and sometimes referring patients.   

Booking Appointments

Please be aware when booking an appointment the GP's are only given a 10 minute slot for each patient unless it is a non-English speaking patient who has an interpreter or a patient who may require more time because of a disability. 

If you feel you may need more than a 10 minute slot please inform the receptionist of this.  If you do attend an appointment with a number of health problems the GP may ask you to rebook another appointment so that more time can be spent with you. 

If you wish to register for online appointment booking, please speak to the receptionist or contact the practice to be sent your registration details.

Extended Surgery Hours

The practice now offers an extra 6 hours surgery time per week, some weeks this may be a Saturday morning from 9.00am – 12.00pm or a Weekday morning from  7.00am – 8.00am and Wednesday Evening 6.30pm – 7.30pm.

If you work and find it easier to book an appointment out of work times, please feel free to book an appointment in our extended surgery hours.




Homeless Friendly Practice

Silverdale Medical Practice signed the homeless friendly pledge on 16th May 2018.  What this means for homeless patients registered with the practice is that the practice pledges to:

  • Help meet the needs of homeless people.
  • Speak to homeless people with understanding and compassion.
  • Examine our policies and procedures to ensure they are homeless–friendly
  • Train our staff to fully meet the needs of homeless people.
  • Work with our partners in the community to encourage them to care for the homeless
  • Act as a hub for your community in their efforts to help the homeless.

In practical terms to commit to:-Register all patients without the need for identity checks.

Show compassion and care to all patients.

Accept reverse charges for any patient who is homeless and does not have access to a phone or finances to call the practice.

Always ensure that we offer follow up appointments when a patient has investigations.

Ensure if a homeless person is referred on for further care we will make sure where ever possible that we have a booked appointment for the patient to attend.
