Attending Accident and Emergency
This practice has noticed an increase in patients attending A & E.
A & E Departments assess and treat patients with serious injuries or illnesses. Generally, you should visit A & E or call 999 for emergencies, such as:
- Loss of consciousness.
- Suspected stroke
- Trauma/broken bones
- Severe pain that is not relieved by simple analgesia.
- Acute confused state.
- Persistent, severe chest pain, or breathing difficulties.
If you attend A & E and your condition is not felt to be urgent you will be sent away and asked to contact the practice for an appointment. If you need to see a GP urgently please telephone the practice and make an urgent appointment, the practice does offer urgent slots for those patients who need to be seen on the same day.
When the practice is closed you should contact NHS 111 for further instructions.
The Silverdale Medical practice also offers extended hours surgeries which include early morning appointments before 8am, late evening appointments after 18:30 and some Saturday morning surgeries.
